I admit things could’ve been handled differently – Osei-Asare on National Cathedral project

Abena Osei-Asare, the Minister of State designate at the Finance Ministry, admitted during her appearance before the Appointments Committee of Parliament that the management of the National Cathedral project could have been handled more efficiently.

She acknowledged that there were areas where improvements could have been made in overseeing the project.

Osei-Asare, who is also a Christian, expressed a personal interest in the project and emphasized the importance of the Board of Trustees in fundraising to support its completion. She noted that while the government has made a commitment to the project by providing seed funding, it is now essential for the trustees to fulfill their role in moving the project forward by raising additional funds.

The National Cathedral project has faced criticism, particularly regarding transparency issues related to its financing and progress. Critics, including minority MPs, have raised concerns about the project’s spending and the lack of transparency surrounding the funds allocated for it.

Originally slated for commissioning on March 6, 2024, the National Cathedral project is currently in its foundational stages.
