National Service Scheme monthly allowance has been increased from GH559 to GH715.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) management has successfully received government approval for an increase in the monthly allowances paid to National Service Personnel.
The modification raises the allowance from GH559.04 to GH715.57, with the change taking effect in January 2023.

The permission occurred after a series of fruitful interactions between the Scheme, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, and the Ministry of Finance, according to a statement signed by Ambrose Entsiwah Jnr., the Acting Director of Corporate Affairs.

It was communicated in an official letter dated July 18, 2023, and signed by Abena Osei-Asare (MP), Deputy Minister of Finance.

The letter also instructed the Controller and Accountant-General to apply the revised allowance levels immediately as part of the government’s commitment to enhance the welfare of National Service Personnel.

Starting in January 2023, all current National Service Personnel who have been actively serving are entitled to arrears proportional to the difference arising from the upward adjustment under this new structure. The scheme’s management informs employees that the essential administrative procedures are in place to ensure the timely payment of these arrears.

The statement expressed gratitude for the government’s approval and advised all National Service Personnel to be patient until administrative processes were finalised.

The increased allowances are intended to improve the overall experience of National Service and to contribute to the welfare of the personnel.
