As part of their investigation, the police discovered that the soldier was stabbed in the arm and died following a struggle with the individuals who attempted to rob him of some valuables.

According to police, the deceased officer, Imoro Sherrif, resisted when his assailants attempted to steal his phone and backpack, prompting one of them to pull a knife and stab him.

The robbers stole his phone and fled, leaving the deceased with the knife still embedded in his arm.

Further investigation revealed that the primary suspects sold the phone to someone who later sold it to someone else who is now evading the location of the phone by claiming to have resold it to someone else who also claims to have sold it to someone else.

“We would like to reassure the public, particularly the families of the deceased, that all of the suspects are in police custody and will appear in court on Monday, March 13th, 2023, to face justice,” police said in a press release.

“Investigations further revealed that on the 3rd of March 2023, the deceased visited a female friend at Ashaiman Newtown at around 10:30pm and left the place in the middle of the night at around 01:30am on the 4th of March 2023,” the police statement read in part.

After an autopsy, pathologists determined that the main cause of death was exsanguination and laceration of major vessels in the left arm, which is consistent with being stabbed.

Among the items recovered by the Crime Scene Team were a backpack and a knife with blood stains.

Police discovered one Samsung tablet, one Apple laptop, one military uniform with the name tag “Imoro,” eight additional pieces of clothing, a Ghana card, and a Health Insurance card with the name Imoro Sherrif inside the backpack.
