Obviously nothing will change in the next 9 months – Ablakwa on reshuffle

Samuel Okudzetio Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s recent reshuffle as untimely and unlikely to yield significant changes.

In his assessment, Ablakwa believes that the reshuffle comes too late to make any meaningful impact. He expressed skepticism about any notable improvements in the remaining nine months of the government’s term.

In particular, Ablakwa singled out former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, suggesting that Ofori-Atta will eventually be held accountable for various controversial actions, including an alleged illegal withdrawal of US$58 million for the construction of the US$450 million National Cathedral, as well as other questionable contracts. Ablakwa emphasized that accountability for these actions will come in due course.

President Akufo-Addo’s reshuffle saw the removal of several ministers, including Ken Ofori-Atta, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Francis Asenso Boakye, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, Kwasi Anoako Attah, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, Lariba Abudu, Dan Botwe, Freda Prempeh, Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, Henry Quartey, and Joseph Makubu.

Among the notable changes, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has been reassigned to the Works and Housing Ministry, while Asenso-Boakye has been reassigned to the Roads and Highways Ministry.

The announcement of the reshuffle was made by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Presidency, on Wednesday, February 14.

The statement released by the Presidency expressed gratitude to the departing ministers and deputy ministers for their dedication and hard work during their tenure, wishing them success in their future endeavors.
