National Security Minister and Bugri Naabu Summoned by Parliamentary Committee Investigating Leaked Tape

The parliamentary ad-hoc committee tasked with investigating a leaked tape involving the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has summoned the National Security Minister, Kan Dapaah, and former Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bugri Naabu, for further investigations. Both are scheduled to appear before the committee on Wednesday, September 13.

This development comes after the IGP and three senior police officers implicated in the leaked tape, COP Alex Mensah, Superintendent George Asare, and Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi, appeared before the committee on Tuesday.

Committee Chairman Samuel Atta Akyea announced that all witnesses must appear with their legal representatives on Wednesday for the continuation of proceedings.

During Tuesday’s session, the IGP categorically denied any involvement in a conspiracy to secretly record conversations with Bugri Naabu. The probe into the leaked tape has garnered significant public attention in recent weeks.

In his testimony, Dr. Dampare reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the law and maintaining the Ghana Police Service’s integrity. He expressed his willingness to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation and pledged to provide any necessary information or assistance to uncover the truth behind the leaked tape.
