Cecilia Dapaah breaks her silence, claiming irregularities in the $1 million, €300,000 report.

Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, has noted anomalies in the story of the stolen cash from her residence.

She implies that what is being discussed in the public realm contradicts the facts of the case’s original complaint.

Breaking her silence on the case, which was heard for the first time in an Accra Circuit Court on Thursday, July 20, the former Bantama Member of Parliament said she is “examining the origins of the inconsistencies and will provide a detailed response in the coming days.”

The public has been outraged by court allegations that the Minister had retained $1 million, €300,000, and millions of Cedis in her house.

According to the charge sheet, two home helpers stole the money between July and October of 2022.

Patience Botwe, 18, and Sarah Agyei, 30, have been granted bail and will appear in court on Wednesday, August 2.

The police also detained three other people, including the father of the young housekeeper, for benefiting from the bounty.

Some political leaders have already called for her resignation.

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minority Leader, has demanded that the matter be investigated immediately.

His party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, called the situation “scandalous,” accusing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of allowing his ministers to go unpunished in other similar cases.
