The Russian Embassy in Ghana criticizes Kamala Harris for her “anti-Russian fakes.”

The Russian Embassy in Ghana has launched an investigation into US Vice President Kamala Harris’ claims about the effect of the Russian-Ukraine crisis on African countries.

The Embassy explained that her claim that the conflict has resulted in nations around the world being unable to access certain foods, especially grain, is incorrect.

Fact-checking the US Vice President’s statement on its Twitter page on Wednesday, March 29, the Russian Embassy stated that European officials have admitted that Ukraine provided approximately 53 million tonnes of grain and other food products.

It emphasized that the only cause of apparent food insecurity in Africa is  “because of the EU and US sanctions that block the Russian grain export”.

It also stated that 45 percent of Ukraine’s entire grain export volume went to Europe, while only 3 percent went to Africa.

In 2022, the Embassy chastised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and other world leaders for attributing economic suffering to the Putin-led invasion in February of that year.

“The Embassy wishes to shed some light on the roots and drivers of this crisis and provide a comprehensive and objective analysis without emotions and political prejudice,” it said at the start of a thread that appeared to exonerate Russia.
