Mr. Ibu’s adopted daughter renames late actor’s TikTok account
Barely 24 hours after the passing of veteran Nollywood actor Mr. Ibu, his stepdaughter Jasmine Okafor has taken over his TikTok account, which boasted over 1 million followers.
Jasmine Okafor has renamed the account to her own name and deleted all of the late actor’s videos except the ones she appeared in. The account, previously belonging to Mr. Ibu, is now known as @LadyJasminec_live.
Despite this action, Jasmine Okafor still maintains her personal TikTok account under the username @ladyjasminec, which has 1.3 million followers.
The reason behind her decision to take over Mr. Ibu’s TikTok account remains unclear. However, it’s worth noting that she initially opened the account for the actor and managed it on his behalf.
John Okafor, famously known as Mr. Ibu, passed away at the Evercare Hospital in Lagos on Saturday, March 2, at the age of 62, after battling a long illness. His manager disclosed that he suffered a cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at the hospital in Lagos, Nigeria.
The legendary actor had been facing health challenges since October 2023, undergoing multiple surgeries that eventually led to the amputation of his leg. Despite receiving treatment and being discharged from the hospital in early January of the same year, Mr. Ibu continued to struggle with his health. He publicly sought financial assistance in October 2023 to cover his medical expenses.
Mr. Ibu, a native of Nkanu West in Enugu State, is survived by his wife and three children.
