Ghana Music Awards more important to me than Grammys or BET – Fameye

Fameye, a Ghanaian singer and songwriter, has expressed his prioritization of the Ghana Music Awards over international music awards like the Grammys and BET Awards. In an interview on Accra FM, he explained that despite dreaming of winning a Grammy and BET Award as an upcoming artist due to their prestigious recognition, he now values the Ghana Music Awards more.

Fameye revealed that a lyric in his song “Destiny,” which expresses his desire to be at the Grammys, reflects his earlier aspirations for international recognition.

However, upon reflection, he realized the importance of the Ghana Music Awards, especially after witnessing the excitement surrounding artists like Okomfo Kwadee winning in the past.

According to Fameye, receiving recognition from his home country, where his career was nurtured and where his fans are most excited, holds more significance to him.

He believes that strong support from Ghana is essential for artists to rise to international heights. Therefore, he now considers the Ghana Music Awards more significant than the Grammys and BET Awards.

While Fameye clarified that he is not against winning a Grammy or BET, he emphasized his commitment to continuously winning Ghana Music Awards. He believes that winning these national awards not only brings pride to artists but also strengthens the support of their fans.

Ultimately, Fameye expressed contentment with winning Ghana Music Awards, stating that whether he wins a Grammy or not, what matters most to him is winning awards from his home country.
