Ama K. Abebrese and Kofi Kinaata grab UN appointment
Renowned Ghanaian figures, Kofi Kinaata and Ama K. Abebrese, have been appointed as part of a distinguished group of individuals for the United Nations International Organisation for Migration (UN-IOM) newly launched Goodwill Ambassador Pilot Programme and Celebrity Engagement Programme.
The UN-IOM aims to leverage the influence and reach of prominent personalities from various sectors to advocate for its mission. Through this initiative, the organization seeks to enhance visibility, amplify messages, and foster collaboration on migration-related issues at national, regional, and global levels.
Expressing his commitment to the cause, Kofi Kinaata, a highly acclaimed singer-songwriter and rapper, emphasized the importance of empowering young Ghanaians to make informed migration decisions. He highlighted his use of music as a tool to educate people about safe migration pathways, the perils of irregular migration, and the opportunities available in their home country.
Drawing from her personal experiences as a diasporan who has lived between Ghana and the UK, Ama K. Abebrese, a renowned TV and movie star, underscored the significance of promoting safe migration practices. She urged individuals to pursue migration through legitimate channels, emphasizing the importance of safety and adherence to proper procedures.
