Ghanaian in Israel shares ‘terrifying’ experience of Hamas attack

Seth Cudjoe, a Ghanaian professional living in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, has described his experience attending a “memory day” in remembrance of the victims of a recent Hamas attack.

Cudjoe, who resides in the suburb of Yehuda, shared his account of the solemn event, which was organized by local residents.

According to Mr. Cudjoe, participants in his neighborhood lit candles in the shape of the Star of David during the event, which took place on Thursday.

The gathering was led by Rabbis who encouraged attendees to offer prayers. Many children joined the vigil, adding a touch of color with songs and dance as they remembered the lives lost during the attack.

Reflecting on the terrifying moments when sirens went off during the attack on Saturday, Cudjoe recalled being scared as he sought shelter with his family in a bunker.

It was his first experience in such a situation, and the sounds of rockets being intercepted by the Iron Dome were nerve-wracking. The vibrations from the blasts were particularly unsettling.

Over the weekend, Palestinian militants killed over 1,300 people in Israel and kidnapped at least 150. In retaliation, Israel launched airstrikes in Gaza, resulting in over 1,500 casualties in the Palestinian territories.
