Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dismisses Reports of Ghanaian Nationals Caught in Israel-Hamas Crossfire

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has officially denied reports that Ghanaians have been caught in the crossfire between Israel and Hamas. The Ministry’s statement emphasized that the Ghanaian community in Israel is currently safe, countering viral videos that purportedly showed stranded Ghanaians near a bombed city.

In the press release issued on Wednesday, October 11, the Ministry clarified that the incident depicted in the video did not occur in Gaza, Israel, or any area related to the ongoing conflict. The Ministry strongly advised the public to disregard the misleading video.

The situation in the region has escalated in recent days, with a deadly cross-border raid by Palestinian militants targeting a music festival in Israel, resulting in multiple casualties, including 14 Americans. In response, Israel has launched retaliatory actions in Gaza, resulting in over 1,000 deaths and disruptions in power supply to Gaza residents.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has provided hotlines for Ghanaian citizens to contact the Ghana Embassy in Israel in case of concerns or emergencies related to the ongoing crossfire. The Ministry pledged to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.

The Ministry’s response is aimed at dispelling concerns and misinformation surrounding the safety of Ghanaian nationals in the region, emphasizing that they are not caught up in the conflict between Israel and Hamas. It highlights the importance of accurate information during times of international conflict and crisis.
