Kwesi Appiah among new Executive Council members elected for GFA

In an exhaustive process at the Elective Congress on Thursday, several individuals have been elected as representatives on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council. The new Premier League representatives include former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, Randy Abbey, Frederick Acheampong, Nana Sarfo Oduro, and Kingsley Osei Bonsu.

In the initial round of voting, Abbey, Frederick Acheampong, Nana Sarfo Oduro, and Kwesi Appiah emerged as the top four candidates. However, the fifth spot required a third round of voting after Kingsley Osei Bonsu and Elleony Amande both received 9 votes in the first round. In the third round, Kingsley Osei Bonsu secured victory with 12 votes, while Elleony Amande received 6 votes. As a result, Kingsley Osei Bonsu will join the other four candidates in representing Premier League clubs on the Executive Council for the next four years.

GFA Vice President Mark Addo has retained his seat on the Executive Council as a representative of Division One League clubs after polling 32 votes. The Koforidua Semper FI bankroller gets the chance to serve on the Council for another four-year term. He will be joined by Gideon Fosu of Akosombo Krystal Palace (29 votes) and Eugene Nobel Amon Noel, who polled 28 votes to make the cut.

The 2023 GFA Elective Congress took place at the Global Dream Hotel in Tamale, and the newly elected representatives are expected to play a vital role in the management and development of football in Ghana for the next four years.
