Ken Ohene Agyapong Pledges Collaboration Between KNUST and Kumasi Mechanics to Manufacture Tractors

Ken Ohene Agyapong, a leading presidential aspirant within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has vowed to facilitate a collaboration between the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and Kumasi Magazine mechanics to manufacture tractors in the Ashanti Region. This initiative is part of Agyapong’s agriculture industrialization agenda.

During a speech at Kumasi’s version of the Showdown Walk, which drew a massive crowd to the Prempeh Assembly Hall grounds, Agyapong emphasized his commitment to agriculture and agro-processing. He pledged to add value to every raw material harvested in the Agric mechanization program.

Agyapong also outlined his vision to transform the five northern regions and the Afram Plains into hubs of agriculture and agro-processing. He believes this approach will generate employment opportunities that attract job seekers from the southern part of the country.

Furthermore, Agyapong criticized his chief opponent, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for not leveraging his position to provide transformational leadership and development in the northern regions. Agyapong questioned why northern politicians haven’t invited investors to establish factories that add value to Shea nuts, a freely growing resource in the northern region.

The second edition of the Showdown Walk in Kumasi surpassed its Accra counterpart in terms of crowd size, temporarily bringing the Garden City to a standstill. Agyapong’s commitment to industrialization and agriculture appears to resonate strongly with the public, drawing significant support in his bid for the NPP’s presidential ticket.
