Pandemonium broke out at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Wednesday when an inferno caused passengers and airline operators to evacuate the airport.
The smoke incident occurred at Terminal 1 of the airport, originating from the basement of the terminal building at approximately 0750 hours.
The Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) of the airport responded promptly to the situation, successfully bringing it under control.
In accordance with the commitment to the safety and well-being of passengers, staff, and all airport users, the terminal building was evacuated due to the smoke that had permeated some areas of the facility.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) stated that the situation is presently under control, and they remain committed to their core values of safety, security, and comfort. Further details regarding the cause of the smoke incident and any potential damage or injuries have yet to be reported.
