Being in jail felt like home; it was like a vacation – Shatta Wale talks about his time in Ankaful Prison
Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has revealed that his time spent behind bars felt surprisingly comfortable, almost like being on vacation and even described it as feeling like home.
When asked if the experience humbled him, he expressed that it did not and explained that he felt quite at ease during his time in prison.
During an interview with Giovanni Caleb on Showbiz 360, which is aired on TV3, Shatta Wale shared that the cell was filled with fans who had been eager to see him, and they treated him with a sense of reverence, as if he were royalty.
He mentioned that some of the inmates even fetched water for him, and others offered him their food. This treatment mirrored the way he is treated on the streets.
Shatta Wale also emphasized that the prison experience did not negatively impact his career. In fact, he stated that he was able to release more hits after his release, mentioning songs like ‘On God’ and ‘JJC’ as examples.
Shatta Wale had been sent to the Ankaful Medium prison in the Central Region for a one-week remand. He was arrested by the police after it was
revealed that he had faked being shot, with the help of his PRO Nana Dope and another individual known as Gangee.
