It’s outrageous for Adisadel to punish the victim of the violent attack – Kwakye Ofosu

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a former Deputy Minister of Information, has called the decision by Adisadel College administrators to penalise the victim of the campus attack “outrageous.”

“It is unconscionable for Adisadel College to punish the victim of such a violent attack for failing to report the incident.” He should be compensated and counselled, not punished!” he said.

A viral video showed two students, one clutching the other’s neck and slamming his (victim’s) head against an iron bed frame. The victim’s face swelled immediately.

The video, which has gone viral on social media, has sparked public indignation and prompted concerns about student safety in educational institutions around the country.

GES expressed profound concern and forcefully condemned the heinous conduct done by the individuals involved in a statement signed by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of the Public Relations Unit.

“We commend the school authorities for promptly suspending the alleged perpetrator pending further investigation,” said the statement.

Acts of violence within schools are completely unacceptable and destructive to students’ well-being, and the GES is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for all students nationwide.

Following the event, the school’s administration took disciplinary measures, suspending the alleged perpetrator pending further investigation.
