Abdullai Abu Sadiq, the founder of 3 Music Awards and the NDC parliamentary candidate for Okaikwei Central, has voiced worry about the latest situation involving Ghanaian musician, Black Sherif, and the Cruise People Ltd, which resulted in his detention on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
In a recent interview, Baba Sadiq, a close confidant of the ‘Kweku Frimpong’ artist, voiced his belief that law enforcement intervention in public matters could have an impact on industry investments.
“My initial reaction was the involvement of the police in this; I don’t agree with how things play out in public.” “I’ve always said that such incidents could have an impact on the industry’s investment flow,” he explained.
Baba Sadiq, a staunch supporter of investment in the entertainment business, emphasised the necessity of fostering an atmosphere that encourages investors to support and contribute to the industry’s growth.
“I’m a big advocate for investment for industry, I always say when people who have money available for the industry come into the country, I do say we should find a way to encourage them through our actions and activities,” he said on United Showbiz.

Remember that on the evening of July 19, 2023, Mohammed Ismail Sharrif, also known as Black Sherif, was supposedly apprehended at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
According to social media reports on Wednesday, the ‘Kweku The Traveller’ musician was escorted from the airport to the Accra police headquarters due to a contractual breach regarding a gig in Greece that he failed to honour.
Sources close to the musician revealed that he had been engaged for the event and had paid a $20,000 deposit.
The singer’s agents agreed to repay the initial deposit rather than face cancellation and lawsuits, but the event organiser insisted on being reimbursed $50,000 instead.
The demand was deemed unjust and contradictory with the initial agreement by Black Sherif’s agents.
Daniel Vanderpuye, CEO of Cruise People Limited, insisted that a promotional video was part of Black Sherif’s commitments.
Despite the artist’s failure to submit the footage, his team stated that they were willing to make any necessary revisions or proposals to the agreement.
