Jerry Williams, a Nollywood actor, has been suspended indefinitely by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) for drug usage.
The AGN’s national president, Emeka Rollas, stated in a statement that the organisation had been monitoring Williams’ drug use since December of last year.
According to the statement, Williams’ drug usage had “gotten out of hand” and he was now a danger to himself and other actors.
Williams was allowed to seek therapy for his drug addiction, according to AGN, but he “defaulted on treatment.” As a result, the AGN stated that it had no choice but to indefinitely suspend him.
The suspension was announced by AGN as being “in the best interests of the guild and its members.” The AGN said it would continue to monitor Williams’ progress and lift the suspension once he had completed treatment and was deemed drug-free.
