After arresting four people, MP urges police to put an end to this.

The Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoaguriri, Frank Annoh Dompreh, has praised the police for questioning four individuals accused of assaulting a police officer. The legislator asked for the case to be ended.

On March 9, 2023, the Axim Divisional Police patrol team reported an attack by a gang that seized a Service rifle magazine as well as the mobile phones of some police officers.

Following the report, an intelligence operation to apprehend the suspects was swiftly launched. After about three weeks of the intelligence operation, four men, Kojo Siah alias Mozey, Emmanuel Mensah alias Kofi Asamoah, Maxwell Cudjoe, and Agyabu Haruna Dissawu, were arrested for their alleged involvement in the assault on March 28, 2023.

Three (3) pump-action shotguns were discovered during a search of the home of Kwame Ato Asare Ani, the primary suspect who is still on the run. In addition, the defendants’ unregistered Honda CRV vehicle contained one (1) pump-action shotgun, two (2) machetes, and eight (8) BB refilled cartridges. Two (2) live refilled BB casings and one (1) unregistered motorcycle were also found from the suspects.

On April 1, 2023, the Police were drawn to a video footage in which the said Police personnel, members of the Axim Patrol team, are shown pleading with gang members while the gang claims extortion by the police officers.

The extortion claim filed by the officers has been forwarded to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSP) for inquiry.

“All the suspects in the reported attack on the patrol team, who had been arrested, have been put before court and have been remanded in custody. Efforts are continuing to get the remaining suspects arrested,” a statement issued by the Police on Sunday April 2 said.
