“Dear IMF, before you give them the loan, ask them how much was spent to build this Susubribi village square”- A-plus

Kwame A-Plus, a political and social analyst, has invited the IMF to question the government over how much it spent on the design of a platform at the Kotoka International Airport.

Many Ghanaians have criticized the platform that was used to welcome Vice President Kamala Harris during her visit to Ghana on Sunday, March 26. They thought the drapes and décor were terrible.

The controversial musician and politician joined the discussion by mocking the podium’s design in an Instagram post by dubbing it a “Caricature.”

He claimed that in addition to the stage being terrible in comparison to those set up for the Uefa Champions, Super Bowl, or any other typical international events, it would have been extremely expensive.

“You watch the Champions League final or the World Cup in Qatar, and within a matter of minutes, a beautiful podium is built for presentation. You watch the Super Bowl halftime show, and within the twinkle of an eye, the whole playing field is turned into a gorgeous stage for a musical concert. Here in Umofia, this is what Atta ne Atta were able to build in 73 hours; the most annoying part is that this caricature will be more expensive than any of the aforementioned,” he wrote.

He also urged the IMF to look into the cost of the podium before providing the government with any bailout money, continuing his sarcastic message.

“Dear International Monetary Fund, before you give them the loan, ask them how much was spent to build this Susubribi village square, and you’ll know what your money will be used for,” A Plus continued.

V.P. Kamala Harris promised the administration that she would assist in the IMF negotiations during her official state visit to Ghana, which started on Sunday.

In order to combat violent insurgency, the U.S. has also promised to provide $100 million in aid to Benin, Ghana, Guinea, the Ivory Coast, and Togo.
